Bilateral visit: Team Finland in Barcelona

In February 2024, Saine Ensemble’s Annatuuli Saine and Reettaleena Rauhala visited Sala Fenix in Barcelona. During this visit we further developed the movement material of our piece “Vagabond”, facilitated two workshops for the performers of Sala Fenix, and built a transition from Saine Ensemble’s piece to Sala Fenix’ piece.“Vagabond” draws inspiration from the painting “The Raft of the Medusa” (1818-1819) by Theodore Gericault and the events that the painting depicts: a shipwreck on the coast of Mauritania in 1816. In our work, three characters connect with the victims of the accident, sensing into the emotional turmoil of facing one’s death and regaining hope.
